Differences Between VPS and VDS

Let's say you want to make a website and you want to host it or you need a virtual server to do things like hosting, game server. You wanted to rent a virtual server and you came across options such as VPS VDS. What should you do? which one should you choose? In this article, we will explain the difference between VPS and VDS servers.

First of all, VPS is the general name of the service, which we will describe as Virtual Private Server. VDS means Virtual Dedicated Server.

VPS HOSTING :

VPS hosting provides its users with a Virtual Machine (VM) through a virtualization software called a hypervisor. Each Virtual Machine runs its own operating system and uses a limited portion of the physical server. Although users can access Virtual Machines, there is no access to the physical server. Typically, even if multiple users are on one physical server, the VMs are not communicating with each other. In this way, a private but physically shared server use emerges. If we are to list the advantages of VPS hosting, it is necessary to mention the access to the operating system, unlike traditional web hosting services. This type of access authorization gives users the chance to run the operating system they want, which means that you can change your costs and certification needs according to the software language you will use. As for another advantage, users can also install FTP (File Transfer Protocol), mail server or special applications or database to meet their needs, for example e-commerce or blog foundation, on this server. It will give you the chance to use many database software such as Mysql or MSsql. Finally, we should mention the possibility of hosting multiple applications or sites on these servers. In this way, users who want to have the chance to rent different parcels of their VMs like a hosting company, or you can host both the publishing and development phase of your site on this server. VPS Services provide usage by sharing features such as Ram, CPU, etc. within the server.

VDS HOSTING :

VDS, as we mentioned at the beginning, is a hosting method that shows its difference by giving a virtualized machine like VPS to only one user. Since it is a single user, it does justice to the "dedicated" part in its name. In fact, VDS, which is an IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) application, allows to keep the physical server in question within the hosting services of someone else, rather than physically hosting a server. It allows you to fully use the features such as RAM, CPU, which are reserved for VDS on the physical machine. This will help you gain performance in serious understanding. VDS, which offers serious advantages in terms of performance, may be a little more costly than VPS in terms of price, since the actions of other users do not affect you. However, when evaluated in terms of benefit / price, it is preferred especially by large companies due to its rapid scalability. The fact that you can restart without asking anyone when needed, that you can change all technical features and that it is basically used as a physical server provides a highly customizable infrastructure.
