What is Cyber Security?

 


Cyber security is the protection of the security, integrity and confidentiality of our electronic data, and the protection of internet-connected systems, including hardware, software and data, against cyber attacks.

In the context of computing, security includes cybersecurity and physical security. Both are used by businesses to protect against unauthorized access to data centers and other computerized systems. Cyber Security is ensuring the security of life on cyber networks, the infrastructure of which is information systems, and the protection of its integrity and confidentiality.

Information security and cyber security are often used interchangeably but are different from each other. Information security is defined as the protection of the integrity, security and confidentiality of information.

Every employee needs to be aware of their role in preventing and mitigating cyber threats, and specialist technical cybersecurity personnel should be fully aware of the latest skills and qualifications to mitigate and respond to cyberattacks. Care should be taken in all transactions made over the Internet. They try to take advantage of people's inattention to attacks such as mail, etc., which are called "phishing".

TYPES OF CYBER SECURITY THREATS;

  • RANSOMWARE : It is a type of malware that involves an attacker locking computer system files (usually through encryption) and demanding a payment to decrypt and unlock them.
  • SOCIAL ENGINEERING : Social engineering is an attack based on human interaction (deception, etc.) to obtain protected sensitive information of users.
  • MALWARE : Malware is any file or program used to harm a computer user, such as worms, computer viruses, Trojan horses, and spyware.
  • PHISHING : It is a form of fraud in which fake emails are sent that look like emails from trusted sources; however, the purpose of these emails is to steal sensitive data such as credit card or login information. In addition, they can capture your data by installing programs on your computer via dangerous links in these e-mails.
  • Spyware 
  • Malvertising : Malware embedded in ads
